I Stand with Farmers vs. Monsanto!

In March 2011, the Public Patent Foundation filed the landmark lawsuit, Organic Seed Growers and Trade Association (OSGATA) et al v. Monsanto on behalf of family farmers, seed businesses and farming organizations to challenge Monsanto’s patents on genetically modified (GMO) seeds and protect farmers from the biotech seed and chemical giant’s abusive patent infringement lawsuits.

On January 31, 2012, 55 farmers and plaintiffs  traveled to Manhattan to hear oral arguments regarding Monsanto’s motion to dismiss the case filed earlier last summer. At the heart of the lawsuit is the threat that farmers face due to genetic trespass as a result of Monsanto’s GMO seed and the aggressive enforcement of their alleged patent rights. In court, Federal Judge Naomi Buchwald declared that she would rule on the motion to dismiss the trial or move forward in the next 60 days or by March 31st.

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) has not been proven to be safe for neither for man nor beast yet these  (products, by-products, ingredients, experiments, man made foods…Not sure what to call them) are making their way into our food supplies.

Is there nothing sacred any more?

If Monsanto (for one) has their way we all could be forced to eat…whatever is being manufactured.  It brings to mind an old movie called Soylent Green I think it was.  Scary stuff.-Soylent Green(1973) PG

Set in a polluted, congested New York City in 2022, this sci-fi thriller stars Charlton Heston as Robert Thorn, a gumshoe looking into the murder of a corporate executive (Joseph Cotten) whose company makes a nutritious synthetic food called Soylent Green. But in the process of tracking down the killer, Thorn unearths shocking information about the product’s ingredients. The cast also includes the great Edward G. Robinson in his last film role.
